What Meta announced at Advertising Week 2026, and what is actually available
On 6 October 2026, at Advertising Week New York, Meta announced a batch of AI features for advertisers. Two are open to everyone now: Customer Lifecycle Strategy, and generating video from static images in Advantage+ creative. Most of the rest, including an assistant that can build campaigns and change budgets, checkout inside a chat, and plain-language audience discovery, is in testing, in beta or promised for later in the year.

What Meta announced on 6 October 2026
Meta published its Advertising Week New York 2026 announcement on 6 October 2026, timed to the event. The announcement covers five areas:
- Ads Creative Studio, a workspace that shows which creative is performing and why, and can generate and edit video.
- The Meta AI business assistant in Ads Manager, which is getting creative insights, a longer memory and, later, the ability to act on an account.
- Audiences: Customer Lifecycle Strategy and plain-language audience discovery.
- Generative video, including video made from static images.
- Checkout inside a conversation in Messenger, Meta AI and Muse.
It is easy to read that list as if all of it had shipped. It has not. Meta's own wording gives each item a different status, and the difference decides what you can use this week.
Available now, or still in testing
The status column below is taken from Meta's post as published on 6 October 2026. The post does not list countries or languages for any feature, so "available" describes Meta's announcement, not a guarantee about your account.
| Feature | Status Meta gave | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Customer Lifecycle Strategy | Available to all advertisers | You mark a campaign as an acquisition campaign and Meta recommends excluding existing customers. |
| Video from static assets in Advantage+ creative | Generally available | Generates a video ad from images you already have. |
| Ads Creative Studio | Beginning to roll out to more advertisers | Shows which creative is working and why. Also generates video concepts and variations, with edits to hooks, audio, clip length, text overlays, captions and end scenes. |
| Catalogue product video | Eligible beta advertisers | Turns product images from a catalogue into product videos in bulk. |
| Smart product recommendations | Being scaled during the northern autumn | Works out which product an ad features and suggests others from the same collection, or best sellers, to show with it. |
| Excluding existing customers with one Audience Label | Testing | A shorter route to the same exclusion that Customer Lifecycle Strategy recommends. |
| Importing strategy, voice and brand guidelines into the assistant | Testing | Brings in material you have already written in other AI tools. |
| Scheduled tasks and alerts in the assistant | Testing | Recurring performance monitoring, weekly summaries and reminders to review budgets. |
| Assistant that plans and creates campaigns, generates creative, updates targeting and changes budgets | Described as coming soon, and as in testing | You ask in conversation; previews and approvals sit between the request and the change. |
| AI-enabled audience discovery | Due in Detailed Targeting by the end of 2026 | You describe your ideal customer in plain language and Ads Manager suggests audiences. Meta frames it as a feature for brand advertisers and agencies. |
| Checkout in Meta Business Agent on Messenger | Testing, with Shopify | A shopper buys in the chat after a brand's agent has answered their question. |
| Checkout in Meta AI | Testing to begin in the northern autumn | Meta names Adyen, PayPal, Shopify and Stripe as partners for the test. |
Meta also said its ads MCP server, which lets large advertisers and agencies manage campaigns from the AI tools they already use, now supports more workflows. Work staged by an agent arrives as a draft in Ads Manager, and nothing goes live without the advertiser's approval. That is aimed at larger teams, not at someone running one account by hand.
The two features you can use today
Customer Lifecycle Strategy. In Meta's words, "Customer Lifecycle Strategy is now available to all advertisers." The idea is simple. When you run a campaign to find new customers, you do not want to pay to reach people who already buy from you. You tell Meta the campaign is for acquisition, and it recommends the exclusions instead of leaving you to build them. In practice this only helps if Meta can tell who your existing customers are, so it rewards an up-to-date customer list.
Video from static images. Meta says advertisers can now generate video from existing static assets in Advantage+ creative, and that this is generally available. Its stated reason is that more than 60% of the time people spend on Facebook and Instagram is spent with video. For a small advertiser with no video budget, this is the practical change in the announcement: an image ad that already works can now have a video version without a shoot.
Treat the result as a new ad to test, not as an upgrade. Meta's post makes no claim that the generated video outperforms the image it came from. Run both and compare, as you would with any new creative. Our guide to testing ad creative covers how to set that up, and the ad sizes guide lists the dimensions each placement expects.
The assistant: what the 5% figure does and does not say
Meta reports that advertisers who adopt the business assistant's recommendations are typically seeing 5% more conversions at the same cost per conversion than advertisers who do not. Read that carefully. It is Meta's own figure, the post gives no method, sample or time period, and it describes the recommendations the assistant makes today. It is not a result for the agentic features, which are not widely available yet.
The agentic part is the piece to watch. An assistant that can change targeting and budgets on request saves time, and it also makes it easier to change something you did not mean to. Meta says previews, approvals and controls let you decide what to hand over. When the feature reaches your account, that approval step is the one to keep switched on.
The agent standard is a separate announcement
Some roundups folded an open standard for AI agents into Meta's advertising news. It was announced the same day, but it is not in Meta's Advertising Week post and it is not an ads feature. On 6 October 2026, Sierra introduced the Personal Agent Protocol, which it describes as an open standard that Meta and Sierra are developing with Genesys, Instinct, Rocket, Shopify, Stripe and Walmart. It sets out how a person's AI agent identifies itself to a business and what it is allowed to do there.
Sierra said the first specification, version 0.1, would be published later in October 2026, and it lists payments as a possible later extension, not part of the core design. For a small advertiser there is nothing to do about it yet.
What a small advertiser should do now
- 01
Check what your own account has
Open Ads Manager and look. Rollouts reach accounts at different times, and Meta's post gives no country list. Plan around what you can see, not around the announcement. - 02
Bring your customer list up to date
Customer Lifecycle Strategy recommends excluding existing customers from acquisition campaigns. It can only exclude the customers Meta knows about. - 03
Turn one proven image ad into a video and test it
Pick an image ad that is already performing, generate a video from it in Advantage+ creative, watch the whole thing before you publish it, and run it beside the original. - 04
Do not rebuild your workflow around features in testing
Conversational campaign building, scheduled reports, in-chat checkout and audience discovery are not general releases. Dates given for tests are not dates for you. - 05
Keep approvals on when the agentic features arrive
Start with low-risk requests such as summaries and reports. Review every budget or targeting change before it is applied.
